Governors

Liz Simpkin

Chair

Liz combined motherhood with a fulfilling career as a teacher, headteacher and local authority adviser.  She has taught all ages from 3-11. As an intervention adviser, Liz worked with schools where rapid improvement was needed. Recently, she led the team of advisers responsible for quality improvement in Early Years, in schools, children's centres and settings across Hertfordshire. Liz is determined that every child should succeed. She lives with her husband in Offord and her grandchildren attend the school and pre-school there. In February 2019 Liz became Chair and values the opportunity to contribute to the life and work of the school. 

Helen Young

Deputy Chair

Helen has worked in HR for over 20 years in a number of large organisations including Nokia UK, Eversheds LLP and the BBC.  She is currently the Operations Manager for an HR Consultancy managing business operations including client liaison and finance.  Helen has been a parent governor at Offord Primary School for the last three years and is currently Vice Chair. Both her daughters have attended Offord Primary School. Helen is committed to the school and willing to continue as a Trust governor to see the school flourish.

A former headteacher, Local Leader of Education and NPQH Course Coach, Chris is responsible for the Primary schools within the Trust, ensuring that they are provided with the support to develop and maintain high standards.

Jacqui WIlliams

Staff Governor

Jacqui joined the staff team at Offord Primary School three years ago as a Teaching Assistant. She has recently taken on the role of HLTA which gives her the opportunity to work closely with every year group in the school. Before joining Offord Primary School, Jacqui worked in Early Years Education for 15 years, performing a variety of roles including SENDCo, Behaviour Management Advisor and Child Protection and Safeguarding. Jacqui is married to Stuart and has two grown-up children.

Sarah Beck

Parent Governor

Sarah is a parent governor and mother to two children at Offord Primary School. As a Consultant Clinical Scientist leading the diagnostic Immunology laboratory at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, Sarah is involved with post-graduate education, training and examination of clinical immunologists nationally. She brings her professional experience in complex data analysis and quality improvement processes to support her work as a governor. Her roles have included auditing compliance and monitoring staff wellbeing during school visits along with seeking views and feedback from parents.

Rita Rose

Parent Governor

Rita has three children and has been a parent governor at Offord since 2016. She has always had an interest in education and welfare and as a governor leads on safeguarding.  Following her degree in Zoology from Royal Holloway, University of London Rita studied to become a veterinary surgeon at University of Cambridge. In her current role as Director of Animal Welfare and Comparative Medicine, Rita is responsible for upholding welfare legislation for animal care, teaching other staff and presenting work publicly, as well as managing a department of veterinary surgeons.

Andrew Shefford

Trust Governor

Andrew joined the governing body in 2016 and was chair from 2017-2018. His current focus is finance and premises.  Away from Offord Primary School Andrew works for KPMG in technology risk and control, focusing on AI, machine learning and algorithm risks as well as technology internal audit. He is married to Sarah and has four grown-up children. Andrew has lived in Offord Cluny for 16 years. He is a keen gardener and cook and is involved in Godmanchester Baptist Church.

Sarah Shefford

Trust Governor

Sarah has been involved in Offord Primary School since she moved to the village in 2003, as a parent and teaching assistant. She has been a governor for 11 years and is responsible for SEND and safeguarding. She is currently working in Longstanton as a specialist teaching assistant. Outside work, Sarah enjoys reading, crochet and photography. She is married to Andrew and has four grown-up children, who all attended Offord Primary School.
