Music

At Offord Primary School we aim to teach music which engages and inspires children to develop a life-long love of music, increases their self-confidence, creativity and imagination, and provides opportunities for self-expression and a sense of personal achievement. Throughout their time at Offord, the children’s music lessons will focus on different genres and a wide range of activities to develop their talents in all aspects of music including rhythm work, instrumental skills, composition, singing and appreciation.  They will have the opportunity to explore different historical periods as well as compare and discuss the styles and traditions of music around the world.

Music plays an important role in helping children to feel part of a community. We organise and collaborate in projects to enable children to share their musical skills at different events both inside and outside of school.

In addition to our music curriculum at school, children are offered extra singing, piano, guitar and drumming lessons taught by private peripatetic music teachers working with individual children.  These children are given the opportunity to share their new musical skills and perform to the rest of the school during special assemblies.

Offord Primary School has been awarded Music Mark in recognition for its commitment to the teaching of music in Primary School. As a Music Mark school we have access to the latest resources to enrich and support our music curriculum.
